This lesson is intended as an enrichment and reinforcement lesson to be used with a unit on Classical music for middle or high school students. Forms, texture, and composers addressed on this website should be addressed at least briefly in the class setting, possibly with other materials, before using the website activity. Directions (Students)

Print the Classical Composers Scavenger Hunt sheet found below.
2.
Follow the links to learn about composers of the Classical period.
3.
Find the answers to the clues listed and record the answers on the answer sheet.
4.
Complete the listening clues in the same manner.
5.
Ask your teacher for the due date and turn in your completed worksheet to the teacher at the allotted time and date.

Assessment



1.
Students are assessed on their ability to recognize classical composers in the last question of the "Classical Composers Scavenger Hunt" sheet.
2.
Students are assessed on their ability to identify form as it is played in various listening examples through their answers to the "Listening Activities" worksheet. (questions Beethoven 3; Haydn 3, 5; & Mozart 2, 4)
3.
Students are assessed on their ability to define and identify the following terms based upon the accuracy of their answers on the listening worksheet according to the answer key.

Students are assessed on their ability to apply their knowledge of musical form and identify the forms of the musical examples listed in the objectives based upon their answers to the listening questions related to form in the chart above.
6.
Students are assessed on their ability to apply their knowledge of texture and identify it in the musical examples based upon their answers to the listening questions related to texture according to the chart above.
